Intercom and keypad units can be installed in literally any location to suite your needs. Bespoke weather shields can be fabricated to nest the intercom units as required. Built as part of a post box or as part of railings, fitted within gate support column, flush mounted within brick pier and so on.

Stand alone posts with weather shields are commonly used to accommodate and protect access control devises at specific locations.

Installed by the driveway allowing operation for drivers without the need to exit their vehicle or simply on a foot path for pedestrian use.

All posts and weather shields are manufactured by us to meet individual requirements. The units can be fabricated to accommodate various devises. Weather shields are also used to provide protection from weather elements or vandalism.

Acting as magnetic field generators detecting metal objects such as vehicles and bikes when passing through the field. Vehicle detectors can be built as square or rhomb shape or rectangular to meet each individual application.
Vehicle detectors are commonly used for the following applications:

Free exit/safety vehicle detector: as indicated on sketch 1 and 2. Used as an access control devise on a set of double hinged gates opening inwards. The vehicle detector in this application has been shaped as rhomb and positioned far enough off the gate closing line to provide a detection when vehicles approach and therefore allowing activation for free exit. The position of the vehicle detector also provides a continuous detection whilst the vehicle is still in the vast opening area however yet not detected via the photo cells or safety beams. This will prevent the gates to close against the vehicle should the vehicle accidentally stall just before the photo beams as illustrated on sketch 2.
In other occasions, for instance on long driveways or for commercial applications where early detection of vehicles exiting is required the use of a dedicated free exit vehicle detector is essential. In this event a dedicated safety vehicle detector will also be required (on double swing gates) to monitor the vast opening gated area if no other devises are in use.

Dedicated free exit and dedicated safety vehicle detector: as illustrated on sketch 3 the dedicated free exit vehicle detector marked in red has been positioned further against the gated area to provide early detection and therefore command the gate to open prior to final vehicle approach. Furthermore, a dedicated safety vehicle detector marked in blue has been positioned within the vast opening gated area. This secondary safety vehicle detector is to provide constant detection for vehicles until reaching the photo beams. In this case the safety vehicle detector has been positioned within the gate closing area to ensure detection and safety in this area.

Vehicle detectors for entrance purposes
Vehicle detectors can also be used on the entrance allowing vehicles to command the gate for free access. This function can be restricted via digital timer allowing access at specific hours and days.

Pedestrian exit or Press to exit: This type of push buttons are essential to allow exit for pedestrians or vehicles. Can be mounted on any surface or can be supplied with stand alone post and weather shield as illustrated above.

Pedestrian access on entrance: Where access for pedestrians is essential yet vehicle access is restricted. (Gate partly opens). Can be mounted on brick work, metal post etc. Supplied as vandal and glue resistant stainless steel push buttons engraved accordingly.

Tradesmen entry button: Essential for trade access. Can be set to open the gate partly (pedestrian opening) or fully for vehicles. Engraved accordingly, this function can be restricted via digital timer functional only at specific hours / days.
Push buttons are also used in various applications and can be set to function accordingly. Each application can be engraved accordingly.

Each new installation should comply with the latest regulations in force.

Illustrated are a handful of safety devises that may be required to ensure the safety operation of your gate. However each gate should be treated as a unique case and  risk assessments should always be undertaken to ensure that gate/s are fitted with sufficient  safety devices  providing protection from risks such as shearing, dragging, cutting, hooking , crashing and impact. Auto closures or gate springs are commonly used on pedestrian or security gates to ensure gate springs back to close position (gate is pushed open manually).

Depending on type and application auto closures can be set to drive the gate smoothly to the fully closed position (for instance where magnet lock is used). Alternatively where a mechanical latch is used it is essential to choose the right auto closure to provide the final force ensuring secure locking.

High quality underground auto closures are also available with slow down facility to eliminate slamming at close mode.
Vandal resistant underground hydraulic auto closure (floor spring). Engineered to the highest quality underground auto closures are commonly supplied for doors on commercial buildings. Over the years we have adapted these devises to suite exterior pedestrian gate applications successfully. Available in different strengths to suite gates from 950 mm to 1400 mm wide and with maximum gate leaf weights up to 300 kilos. Available with adjustable closing speed and choice on slow down for magnet locks or accelerate on latching for dead latch locking devises. The ultimate choice for prestige gates without altering the design also suitable for intensive use commercial applications where vandal resistant properties are essential.

Gas spring or gas strut: Purpose made devise suitable for exterior use commonly in filled with nitrogen gas for spring action and oil for smooth operation. Good value for money solution however vulnerable and therefore not recommended for commercial applications. Please note gas springs are not commonly equipped with a slow down facility therefore minor sound can occur on closing. Should this be a concern the underground vandal resistant hydraulic closure should be considered as an option.
