Electric sliding Cantilever Gates

A classic style Cantilever sliding gate, designed to provide security with aesthetic properties. The heavy duty mechanism, in cooperation with the gate operator allows the extension of this large gate over the driveway with no contact on the tarmac. Various safety devises have been used including two pairs of safety photo cells and safety edges on the opening posts etc.

The immediate area enclosing the motor and support mechanisms have been guarded with expanded sheet metal. This is to provide protection whilst allowing access to the motor for maintenance.   

The vast opening area has been securely enclosed with metal railings. The ground where the gate slides over when in full open position, has been landscaped with control vegetation membrane and gravel minimising any maintenance. A lockable pedestrian gate has also been installed at the far end providing access to the gate mechanisms. Additional end travelling meeting points and brackets have also been installed.

The gate has been installed further into the driveway avoiding immediate disruption to road traffic.

The access control systems include vehicle detectors, electronic key pads, intercom, timer etc.

The vandal resistant audio intercom with electronic key pad has been built as part of the railings within a bespoke weather shield unit. This is to enable drivers to communicate with the property without existing their vehicle.

Electronic timers have been installed allowing access at specific hours. The appropriate signs and road markings provide guidance to vehicles entering and exiting.

This classic style Cantilever sliding gate has been equipped with various access control devises including vehicle detectors, timers and electronic key pads. the gate consists of generous 80 mm profile frame and 32 mm square vertical bars designed to give the impression of a double hinged bow top gate. To achieve this the support mechanisms have been fabricated neatly as part of the gate. Special fabricated brackets using upgraded rollers have been used to ensure long lasting and smooth gate operation. Additional full close and open meeting points have also been installed.

A lockable pedestrian timber gate has been installed to provide access for maintenance to the gate mechanisms.  

Side railing panels matching the gate design have also been installed. Finally the electronic key pads have been installed flush mounted on posts on either side of the driveway.

In this case study,  two types of cantilever sliding gates have been illustrated each one designed as a classic residential double leaf look alike gate. Various designs and decorative options can be used to to provide an aesthetic final product with all the secure benefits of a cantilever gate.

Cantilever gates can be fitted between brick piers or metal support posts. On over inclined driveways or uneven grounds cantilever gates can be the perfect solution as clearly illustrated on the first and second drawings.

Illustrated on the third and fourth drawings are the cantilever mechanisms. Although visible only from inside this area can be disguised using infilled timber panels or metal railings. The space where the cantilever gate slides open can be landscaped accordingly to provide a maintenance free area.

The support mechanisms withholding the gate upright whilst allowing a sliding operation can be fabricated as part of the gate with a minimum impact to the final gate design. Upgraded rollers with enclosed self lubricated bearings and Teflon covers should be used to ensure soundless, maintenance free and smooth operation avoiding any damage to the paint work. This is clearly illustrated on the fifth drawing.

The cantilever channel transferring the gate weight to the support rollers can be installed flush with the front fascia of the gate for minimum visual impact. The channel can be fabricated as boltable allowing the same rust protection treatment as per gate to provide a perfect match. This is clearly illustrated on the sixth drawing.

Another major advantage of this type of gate mechanism is the absence of a ground track and any implications that this may cause. The cantilever gate mechanism is therefore suitable for industrial applications such as depots and factories where heavy goods vehicles and forklifts are operational. Furthermore cantilever gates can be fabricated as non climbable with high security properties for vehicles as well as pedestrians.
